Bolivia - Peru

It's a strange sensation when even just rolling over in bed leaves you breathless. Life at such altitudes definitely has it's disadvantages and demands a much slower pace. Even when I hold my breath for a few seconds to steady myself before taking a picture I'm left gasping for air. No matter how big a breath you draw it's never enough. Even dropping the kids off at the pool (excuse the euphemism) can be a challenge at 3,500m above sea-level. I awoke this morning with the usual discomforts: dry chapped lips (to the point of no repair despite of the large quantities of chap stick applied), dry throat, cold hands and face, and a hangover from the night before. Urghh, those White Russians. Today is one of those exciting days where we get to leave one country and enter a new one. Another stamp in the passport. New customs, culture, currency, cuisine and sights to look forward to. Peru has lots to offer and we now start the offical countdown to our eagerly awaited Machu Picchu trek. Next entry will come to you live from Cusco, the gateway to the ancient inca civilisation!
